t my 'top 5' list of 2008. Here it goes:
top 5 albums of 2008.
1. 'Viva la Vida' by Coldplay.
This long awaited album came into it's own this year. This even topped their XY album with more clever and witty lyrics, interesting rhythms, soulful singing, and amazing instrumentals. It is obvious that we can expect more from Chris Martin and his band in future years.
2. ' Bring me your love' by City and Colour.
New to this band, i didn't know what to expect. i soon realized that this band, headed by Dallas Green, put out some of the most interesting acoustic music of the year. He has proven to be rightfully one of the most captivating newly discovered artists of oh' eight. His album features twelve of the most expressive songs, trust me, it is worth every penny.
3. 'The fame' by Lady Gaga.
2008 was an amazing year for the platinum diva. With singles that were so catchy, they literally made you want to 'just dance'. This is an album for techno and pop fans alike with it's catchy-club-worthy-beats. Not quite the album to listen to in the minivan though, as listeners were set to wonder about the choice of words in 'lovegame' [a.k.a the meaning of disco stick?]. Overall, this was a bright debut for the pop princess.
4. 'Vampire Weekend' by Vampire Weekend.
Those looking for a kind of 'songs about nothing' attitude in their music should definitely check out this indie Brooklyn-based band. Their most popular single, 'A-PUNK' features a kind light-hearted guitar strumming, and a majestic flute player in the background for this ground breaking band. No one can deny this band a fun intriguing listen.
5. '808's and Heartbreak' by Kanye West.
I personally have never been Kanye's biggest fan, but this album did not disappoint. This year has been quite the struggle for the rapper, what with the death of his mother, and split with his fiancee. All of these experiences have contributed to a more heart-felt album. With popular points of sadness and despair, and heartbreak we now have the pretty mellow songs: 'love lockdown', 'robo cop', and 'heartless'.
these were my top musicians [whole album wise] of the year.
